Tribute to James Vernon Fellers 1947-2011
James Vernon Fellers entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 28, 2011, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 1, 1947, Jim attended Columbia High School and The University of South Carolina, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Jim was a founding partner of the property tax consulting firm of Fellers, Schewe, Scott, and Roberts, Inc., begun 20 years ago. He was also a founding partner in Radio Systems, Inc., prior to that. The light of Christ was evident in all aspects of his life including an unwavering commitment to family and profession as well as his involvement in community and charitable causes such as the South Gwinnett Athletic Association, "Just" People, Inc., CURE Childhood Cancer, and St. Anna's Catholic Church in Monroe, GA.

"Jim Fellers was one of those unique and rare individuals whose humble nature prevented him from ever realizing the full measure of his contribution to our association and community.  We started together in the association and I am so grateful to have been able to share time and friendship with this special man and his family.  From emptying trash cans to providing his enormous financial and management expertise SGAA received an unfathomable amount of gifts from Jim’s generosity.  Without his contributions I seriously doubt SGAA could or would exist today.  He and Tommy were the backbone of the association and I know our family feels an huge debt of gratitude for their service.  Our love for the park can only be exceeded by the devotion and time given by Jim and Tommy.  Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Fellers family.  Jim fought the good fight with the same dignity, courage and humbleness that he conducted his life.  We at SGAA and our community are a better place because Jim Fellers came our way."  David E. Snell

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary, his devoted children, Elisa Crumbley (Sloan), Christian (Stephanie), Hunter, Grant, and 3 granddaughters. He also leaves behind his mother, Julienne U. Fellers, three brothers, Frank, Doug, and Bill, and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in his honor at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville, GA at 12:00 noon Saturday, June 4, 2011. Father Daniel Toof will officiate.
